Next Kunda review!

Ko Lanta might at first seem a little daunting for a vegetarian or vegan due to the lack of only vegetarian eateries. Do not let this put you off. A lot of places that offer vegetarian food do have some excellent choices. Even the places that don't openly advertise veggie options will also have the tofu and non-meat options. I would particularly recommend Irie Bar which even has vegan desserts.

However, if you are looking for a truly unique experience then go to Kunda. It really is a step away from your usual Thai fayre and in fact for me it was a step away from anything I'd eaten before! They offer Polish and Hungarian dishes which is a very unusual find here in Thailand. All of their food is vegetarian and most of it vegan, making it the only all vegetarian restaurant on the island.

Although the food is pricey, the portions sizes are good and you will not be left hungry as the food is very wholesome and filling. The bread is so tasty and fluffy and the black rice was also an unusual and welcome find. They also have shakes and teas and coffees as well as wine.

This gaff is also a really interesting place to sit and look around. It's a small cafe with limited seating but it's never busy and it is decked out very cozily. There is also a shop with clothes and accessories and other interesting things to buy.

Although the prices at Kunda may seem a little steep, I find it to be justified as this is very far from your usual Thai stuff and international food is always more expensive anyway. Food like this is a real treat and we all deserve to treat ourselves once in a while.

(By the way, I have no idea what anti-pop means. Anyone?)

New review of Kunda!

"The food is very good-delicious salads and good portion sizes too. We were really hungry after a long day and polished off a salad, samosas, hummus, and finished with chocolate crepe."

'Vegaanin ruoat Koh Lantalla'

"Koh Lanta valopilkkuna oli kuitenkin kasvisravintola Kunda (Anti-pop cafe Kunda), mikä on harvinaisuus rantakohteissa. Kundan yhteydessä on tatuointiliike ja erikoisempia koruja ja vaatteita myyvä puoti. Keittiötä pyörittää tietääkseni puolalainen kokki. Koska Kunda sijaitsi joitakin kilometrejä etelään majapaikastamme, emme siellä käyneet kuitenkaan kuin kerran."

About Kunda, 'Vegetarisk restaurang 'Klong Kong Koh Lanta :)

"Kundas egen sallad med massa gott :) Ägget på toppen tillhör egentligen inte, utan är special beställt av mig, som gärna vill ha lite proteiner i min mat. Super gott. Allt är hemgjort på denna restaurang. Bakar eget bröd som är supergott också.
På Kunda har de även en shop där de säljer kläder och smycken med egen design. Trevligt litet ställe, att rekommendera om ni kommer hit :)"

More about Kunda!

"The main drag through Khlong Khong is particularly uninspiring, but you will find some worthwhile cafes and low-key eateries. A standout is Kunda Cafe, an easy-to-miss and strictly vegetarian spot serving crepes, Middle Eastern food and sandwiches with real cheddar cheese on house-made bread. Breakfasts are also available with an extensive selection of herbal teas, complete with detailed descriptions on exactly how each one benefits the body and mind. "

About Kunda in space :)

"Back on the main road, we found a very cool vegetarian restaurant in Long Beach, called “Kunda.”
It is run by a couple of tattoo covered artists from Poland, who beside making elaborate tattoos with bamboo tools, also make and sell handmade jewelry, paintings, Buddha figurines and clothing.
Kunda offered the best veg food we had on the island.
We only regretted that we did not find them earlier during our stay in Lanta.
They have a back patio with wooden platforms and cushions to lay and relax, fresh juices, awesome food and they grow many of the veg themselves."

"Kunda Cafe (Koh Lanta)-Thailand is filled with many organic vegetarian restaurants all over the place. I am by no means a vegetarian, but we found ourselves eating at many vegetarian restaurants at every place we went to in Thailand. They were all good but nothing compared to Kunda Cafe!"

Octopussy hand poked tattoo for lovely Bianka

After 4 hours and oceans of joy - done! Thanx Bianka for your feet, I felt like I was touching the sky;))

My last trip do Kuala Lumpur.

It was great time...Kuala Lumpur is really great town for walkers and gourmets. I spent there only five days, and already I miss!
